Happy 4th of July!

The cake Dave and Jeannie ordered for the 4th of July celebration we had at their house; they're such patriots! We had a gathering of about 10-15 people for "traditional" american fare, or at least as traditional as we could find in Kaz! It was a blast!

Everyone hanging around the BBQ waiting for the burgers. As you'll see, we all made it to the cake before the burgers ever got done. Nursultan was late delivering the BBQ, and then the fire went out, and the rest is history! We did chow down on other fare inside, though. :-)

Deanna chowing down on her Kazakh/American cake! The 4th of July was the girls' first day outside the orphanage and as a family with the Douglasses. We would put pictures up of Dave and Jeannie, but they were mere blurs chasing the kids around (now 4!).
